Still Figure Painting

Just realized that I haven't posted in like two months, I am always working on something but never seem to think that my pieces are fit to post, which kind of defeats the purpose of this whole thing :-) So anyways here are some paintings from a few weeks back, going to sessions ever other week seems to work best.

In an attempt to hide the fact that I haven't been to life drawing in quite a while I am posting the results of my last session and a few sketches. Really digging Cs5 for painting, wish I had switched earlier :-)

Small Watercolours

Just got back from a canoeing trip to Kilarney, tried my hand at a bit of watercolour during the down time. Really enjoyed painting "au plein air" for a change :-)

Little Still Life

Here is a little sketch I did a few weeks back. Forgot it on my sister's machine. Just felt like tossing it up.

Let there be texture!

Tough day today... decided to do some sketching to decompress. Messing around with simple chalk brushes. Wasn't quite sure where I was going but in the end I am happy with the outcome.

By Product Of Too Much Gardening

After an extensive weekend of gardening I couldn't resist trying a little plant painting. Again, another sketch that developed into a study. The overlapping forms definitely got the better of me on this one, but I learned a lot.

Cormorants

Painted these handsome fellows the other night, couldn't resist posting them. Really like the look of cormorants, they totally remind me of dinosaurs.

Wild China Sketches

I've always wanted to learn how to speed paint, it just looks like so much fun! Figured a good place to start would be with landscapes. These are a few small colour sketches painted from a documentary called "Wild China." Still trying to find my workflow, definitely going to keep going with these.

Just thought I would toss up a quick post, did this little sketch on the ipod. Happy with the result will probably try and do some more landscape type stuff over the christmas break.

IPod touch sketches

picked up an ipod touch a little while ago, have been using SketchBook Mobile to paint with.
Really enjoying how basic it is. Here are a few attempts (the first image was done while waiting for an oil change).
